Splitting a PDF online means turning one long document into the separate pieces you actually need. Toolzio's Split PDF tool separates a PDF into individual pages or custom page ranges, free and without an account, and the whole job runs in your browser — your file is never uploaded to a server. That is the safe way to handle documents you would rather not hand over, from bank statements and medical records to contracts and coursework.
Choose how you want the document divided: every page on its own, or specific ranges grouped together, for example pages 1–3 as one file and pages 10–12 as another. Split only changes the structure of the document, copying the pages you select into new files without re-encoding them, so the text and layout of each page stay exactly as they were. Before you download, check that the page count of each new file matches what you asked for, especially when you split by ranges — an off-by-one range is the most common splitting mistake.
Split is the right tool when only part of a document should be shared or filed: send a client the three relevant pages instead of a forty-page report, or pull one chapter out of a manual. It cannot unlock an encrypted PDF, so unlock a protected file first, and very large files are limited by your device's memory because everything runs locally. For everyday documents, the separated files are ready in seconds.
Splitting also leaves your original document untouched, which makes it a safe first step: you can divide a file, check the pieces, and still go back to the complete original if a range turns out wrong. Give each separated file a clear name as you download it, especially when several pieces come from one document — 'contract-pages-1-3' will still make sense next month, while 'split-1' will not. And remember that a split file is a complete PDF in its own right, so it can be emailed, printed, or filed on its own without the rest of the document travelling with it.
Very large files are limited by your device memory. Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first. This is a focused single-purpose tool, not a full desktop PDF suite.
